Description
This paragliding site in California, USA, is situated at an elevation of 2583 meters with a height difference of 503 meters. It is rarely used and primarily suited for thermal soaring. The site is unregulated, and it is recommended for H3 pilots or experienced H2 pilots with an instructor.
Access to the launch site is not straightforward; you will need a 4x4 vehicle for a long drive or be prepared for a hike. The takeoff area is small, with just enough space to lay out one paraglider. Hang gliders can set up on the 'turning pad' behind the launch.
For landing, there is a bail-out landing zone in front of the launch along the road, but be cautious of the power line. Another potential landing spot is the picnic area at Crawley Lake, which you will pass on your way to the launch.
The maximum altitude allowed at this site is 18,000 feet above mean sea level.
