Description
Monte Maddalena offers several take-off points for paragliding enthusiasts, though it is not frequently used. The site is suitable for soaring flights.
To get there, take the A4 motorway and exit at Brescia Centro. Follow the signs towards the city center. At the first roundabout, turn right and continue straight through another roundabout and two traffic lights (Via della Maggia). At the next roundabout, continue straight until you reach Via San Polo. Proceed straight to the next roundabout and turn left onto Via Fiorentini. At the stop sign, turn left onto Via Gatti and continue straight. After approximately 400 meters, you will see the cemetery on your right, with the landing field located on its eastern side.
There are three main take-off points:
1. **BUREN (S-E, S-O, S) - 670 meters**
Coordinates: N 45 32.226 E 010 16.239
2. **EST (N-E, E, S-E) - 850 meters**
Coordinates: N 45 32.928 E 010 17.142
3. **PEDANA (N-O, O, S-O) - 850 meters**
Coordinates: N 45 32.943 E 010 17.085
To reach Monte Maddalena, take the left turn immediately after exiting the cemetery road where the official landing site is located. After about 200 meters, turn left at the first intersection and then left again at the next traffic light onto Viale Bornata. Continue straight until you reach Viale Venezia, then proceed to the large traffic light and intersection at Piazzale Arnaldo. Turn right here, and immediately after the first gas station, turn right again onto Via Panoramica, which leads to the summit of Monte Maddalena.
After approximately 7 km, you can park near the hairpin turn close to the old cable car pylon, marked by a large windsock. From there, a path over the parapet leads to the BUREN take-off after about 100 meters.
For the higher take-offs, continue driving to the summit of the mountain, where a large parking area is available. To the left of the parking area, a small road descends slightly (marked 'ristorante il grillo'). Follow this road, and upon reaching the restaurant, take the uphill road in front of you. At the end of this road, you will find the EST and PEDANA-OVEST take-offs on the respective sides of the mountain.
