Conditions Optimales
Description
Located in Germany, this site is regularly used and features a small soaring ridge. Top landing is common, and occasional cross-country flights are possible. Adjacent to the site is a sports airfield where winch launches are available.
Please note, this site is directly next to the Höxter-Holzminden airfield. Flying here is only permitted with club members and requires registration at the tower.
General Information: Flying here is strictly regulated and requires adherence to specific rules set by the DGFC-Höxter. Supervision and a special briefing from the club are mandatory.
Takeoff: The takeoff area is a large meadow at the end of the grass runway of the Höxter-Holzminden airfield. It is easy to manage, even for beginners, under normal wind conditions.
Landing: Typically, top landing is practiced here. If not, the landing field is directly in front of the takeoff area, and the walk back takes about five minutes.
Flight: Although it may seem like just a "hill," the thermal conditions in the foreground make for excellent flying, especially in the afternoon. The site is always active with flight movements. The sun's position allows for extended thermal flying late into the afternoon. Up to a height of 150 meters, there is a designated flight corridor in front of the ridge. Beyond that, turning is permitted. Due to the presence of skydivers, ultralights, and motorized aircraft, it is crucial to fly with caution. Always follow the guidance of DGFC members.
The airfield features a pleasant restaurant with a sun terrace, offering reasonable prices and friendly fellow pilots. After the last top landing, you can enjoy a non-alcoholic beer. The site also has approval for winch launches.
