Conditions Optimales
Description
Located in Switzerland, the Braunwald paragliding site offers a take-off altitude of 1230 meters. This site is frequently used and is known for good cross-country flying potential. The standard launch area is easily and quickly accessible.
**Hazards:**
- Never fly during Föhn winds.
- Be cautious of avalanches at Gumen.
- Watch out for cables southwest of Linthal leading to Nussbüel (refer to the map).
**Landing:**
Land in the meadow area with a windsock. After landing, immediately pack up your glider and leave the meadow.
**Scenery and Conditions:**
Enjoy a stunning Alpine panorama and generally good thermals. Ideal flying seasons are summer and winter.
**Transport:**
Take the train from Ziegelbrücke to Linthal and get off at 'Linthal Braunwaldbahn' station. The funicular to Braunwald departs at xx:25 and xx:55 each hour. The 'Kiosk' launch site is directly below the kiosk next to the mountain station.
**Additional Hazards:**
- Three nearly invisible parallel power lines run uphill from the southwest end of the village, marked at the lower end with three orange balls.
- Expect turbulence when crosswinds are present after take-off. The launch area is a hollow below the kiosk, leading through a gap where turbulence can occur. However, the launch site is generally easy and frequently used by paragliding schools.
