Vehicle Requirements: The launch site can be accessed with a 2WD car if driven carefully. The road is generally good.
Launch Description: The launch faces south and is suitable for SSW to SE wind conditions. Be cautious of potential rotor effects from Goat Mountain in strong south winds and possible venturi effects. The ground handling area is good for launching.
Directions to Launch:
1. From Creston, head north on Highway 3 towards Cranbrook.
2. After 4.3 km from the last gas station (Race Trac Gas), turn left onto Lakeview Arrow Creek Road.
3. After 2.4 km, turn left at the first intersection.
4. After another 3.2 km, turn left again at the second intersection.
5. At 7.9 km, turn right onto Big Bear Creek Forestry Service Road.
6. Follow the road, taking a right at any fork you encounter. The launch site is 6 km up from the start of the forestry road.
Best Times to Fly: Morning and late afternoon.
Landing Zone (LZ) Description: The preferred LZ is a large field on Lakeview Arrow Creek Road, not far from the forestry road. Be cautious of power lines along the road. The landowner requests to be notified before using the field, especially if there is a crop. Permission has also been granted to land in the yard if necessary. The landowner's house is on the right, 0.5 km before the LZ, identifiable by numerous cars and equipment. An alternative LZ is a gravel pit on Wenger Road. Other fields in Arrow Creek should not be used unless in an emergency.
Directions to LZ:
1. Follow the same directions as to the launch site.
2. At 6.1 km, the LZ is on the right. Look for an old red tractor in the field.
