Description
Balbergkampen offers a takeoff at an elevation of 555 meters, making it a regularly used site for thermal soaring and cross-country (XC) flights. Pilots need to have a minimum of SP3/PP3 certification, though SP2/PP2 pilots can fly if accompanied by an instructor. All flights from Balbergkampen must be logged on www.flightlog.org.
The takeoff point is accessible via a tractor road on the southern side of Balbergkampen. It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the parking area at Balbergskaret to the takeoff. To get there, follow KringsjÄvegen from Nordsetervegen, 200 meters above HÄkonshall, until you reach the first flat area in the pass. Parking is on the right, and the trail to the takeoff is on the left.
Landing is permitted in a fallow field just south of FakkelgÄrden, which is visible from the takeoff and located at the northern end of the town. New landing rules have been negotiated with the landowner, and it is crucial to adhere to them to maintain the agreement. Land on the upper side of the road marked with a blue square on the map. Previously, landings were on the other side of the road marked in red. Be mindful of streetlight poles along the road. After landing, head directly to the pedestrian path, carry your wing over the road, and pack it near the parking area marked in orange.
