Altitude: 450 m Height Difference: 295 m Takeoff Orientation: NE This site is known for its excellent thermal flying conditions, with powerful thermals in the summer and gentler ones in the winter. The best flying days occur under anticyclonic conditions with a northeast wind or a morning breeze. Access: Coming from Minde, take the road to Serra de St° António until you reach S. Bento. Turn right towards Covões Largos. Follow the road until the asphalt ends and you find a dirt road. Continue on this road, turning at the first path on the right, and proceed carefully between stone walls until you reach the takeoff area. Takeoff: The takeoff area is surrounded by characteristic stone walls but is sufficient for inflation. The slope becomes steep quickly, requiring careful wing handling. For a wider, obstacle-free takeoff with a grassy surface, you can move inside the walled areas, taking care not to damage the walls. The slope here is gentle but enough to clear the wall on the slope side. Flight: The air is more stable here compared to Minde, with more regular and well-formed thermals. The wind is usually weaker, allowing for more frequent flights. Thermodynamic flights are quite accessible here. Landing: There are several fields available for landing. Typically, a large L-shaped field near the football field is used. Be cautious of the power lines supplying the restaurant in the center of the valley. Retrieve: The retrieve can take 15 to 25 minutes each way, with two possible routes: heading straight to Porto de Mós or returning via Serra de St° António. The distances are similar.
