Description
Located in the heart of the Bernese Alps, the Kandersteg region in Switzerland is a popular paragliding destination, especially during the summer months. The area offers beautiful soaring conditions and good opportunities for cross-country flights. The site record is an impressive 62.9 km.
The best seasons to fly here are spring, summer, and autumn. However, it is crucial to avoid flying in moderate or strong southwest winds due to safety concerns. The start and landing fees are included in the affordable cable car ticket.
The take-off site is accessible via the Kandersteg Allmenalp cable car, followed by a 10-minute walk. The launch area is a large, gently sloping alpine meadow equipped with a windsock. The coordinates for the take-off site are 7.65109659, 46.49494784. The site is not suitable for winter flying due to avalanche risks.
For more information, you can visit the local paragliding club, Gleitschirmklub Kandersteg.
