Description
The take-off point at 1824 meters is considered easy but not frequently used. The hike from Zwischenflüh takes about 3 hours. No flight logs have been found, and the take-off site appears to be poorly oriented. It is better suited for low wind conditions (lee). After take-off, turn right and land in Seewlen. This spot involves a lot of walking for a short flight, but it's very beautiful if you enjoy moving and appreciating nature.
Landing Zone 1: Seewelen Erlenbach at 700 meters, medium difficulty due to power lines and a railway.
Landing Zone 2: Fildrich at 1380 meters, medium difficulty due to power lines.
Special Note: Access is via a private toll road. Tickets can be purchased at the cheese dairy/village shop in Zwischenflüh.
The following areas are popular with ski tourers in winter and hikers in summer: Abendberg NW, Pfaffen SO, Turnen SW, Rinderalp O, Speicherböden SW-O. These are accessible only via a private toll road from Zwischenflüh (cheese dairy). Day tickets can be obtained from the ticket machine at the cheese dairy (large blue sign).
The take-off sites are not directly accessible by vehicle, requiring a 20-30 minute walk. From Zwischenflüh to Speicherböden takes about 2.5-3 hours, which is also very pleasant in winter as the slope gets morning sun.
The slope is ideal for those who prefer flying away from large crowds and is also suitable for larger groups due to wide take-off areas.
Directions: At Haslistrasse, turn right at the farm, follow Walstrasse towards Unters Blaachi until the junction. Left leads to Turnen and Speicherboden take-off sites. At the next junction, head towards Alts Läger until Alp Tärfeten, then right towards Speicherboden, or right to Rinderalp or Abendberg. Drive up to Rinderalp.
Landing zones are available at Zwischenflüh above the schoolhouse where the road makes a sharp turn (Zwischflühstrasse-Meniggründstrasse). The landing zone is on a hillside, a hilly meadow, and thus quite challenging (beware of power lines near the farmhouse). Alternatively, land in the meadow next to the road behind the schoolhouse (beware of many power lines).
Flights from Turnen and Abendberg towards Simmental are also possible, offering stunning scenery. Pay attention to glide ratio in strong headwinds.
