All that separates you from the Atlantic are the dunes. Can be choppy on strong NE's though usually flat. Tide not an issue though weeds can be heavy in the late summer and fall so body dragging beginners will dredge up a faceful. Shallow near the shore. Beach type & size: Sand - Medium Infos: The beach is not that wide but due to the winds it works in and the shallowness of the water near shore a launch here is relatively safe. No rocks, some pebbly areas upwind and some moored boats. No concrete, lifeguards, unregulated public access. Identified hazards: None Beachgoer: None Weather specificities: Air: April/May 40's to 70F, June to August 60's to 90F. September to November 40's to 70's, much cooler in November (snow possible). Water: April/May 50-60F, June to August 60F increasing to 70F, September 70F, October 60F, November 50F. Will only freeze in the coldest of winters. Wind type: Thermal, Frontal Wind specificities: Wind is basically frontal, so about an average of 2-3 days in the summer, 4-5 days in fall and spring. Best directions are NE, E, and SW. Best months: April, May, September, October Access description: by Car - From Logan, 93 S to 3 South to 6, exit 11 to Pleasant Bay Rd to rte 28. Entrance is on Harwich/Chatham town line.
