Level: Intermediate, Expert Type: River Mouth Water type: Shallow, Flat, Small wave, Medium wave Water hazards: Swimmers, Currents, Ships, Jetskis Water quality: Crystal clear Infos: Flat water in the river mouth, surf on the ocean side. Great for learning in waist deep warm water or wave riding where the river mouth meets the sea. Watch out for tides. NE wind, outgoing tide for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Out front surfing depending on sand banks. Beach type & size: Sand - Small Infos: Sandy beach on the ocean side. Walk out as deep as possible to launch so you are away from the beach (sandy shallows). Identified hazards: None Beachgoer: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December Weather specificities: Water temps in summer is warm from 22-25C and in winter the temp goes down to about 17C. Thin wetsuits are needed in winter but in summer the only protection you may need is a rash vest for the sun. Wind type: Thermal, Trade Wind specificities: To ride the river mouth for flat water you need NE winds. Main season from September to February. Best months: January, September, October, November, December Access description: by Car, Bus - From Brisbane drive north and get to Noosaville. From Noosaville drive to Noosa Head on Noosa Parade or Noosa Dr. and then left on Hastings St to the camping ground. In the camping ground drive all the way to the west until you reach the river mouth. Specific rules: Other Extra: The river mouth is a tourist mecca. It is used by sun bathers, swimmers, families and most important every other type of water craft. It is the entry and exit point for tourist boats who have to navigate the sand bar on low tide. Jet skis and cats are also everywhere. Rules: walk out as deep as possible to launch so you are away from the beach (sandy shallows), keep away from swimmers, once away get out and keep away from the main beach area. Avoid and give way to all other water craft. Always wear a safety leash. Please see code of conduct sign at the spot. Nightlife: Not much. Accommodations: Camping, Shop, Shower, Parking
