Beach type & size: Grass, Sand - Small Infos: Beach is sandy and is about 400m long. Faces east despite being on the west coast. Plenty of space and pretty good parking too. Identified hazards: Trees Beachgoer: None Weather specificities: Water temp in summer is in the 20C's. Winter is in the mid teens. Summer air temp about 25C. Winter air temp averages 15C. However in conditions when this beach is appropriate it will be pretty stormy from the E or SE so will probably be colder air temp than averages mentioned above. Wetsuit is required due to weather conditions suiting this beach. This beach is ideal when it's too insane on the east coast beaches like Orewa and Takapuna. Much better for beginners. Wind type: Frontal Wind specificities: Very strong easterlies not common. Lucky to get ideal conditions here once a month. Normally you can count the number of times per year on both hands. Easterly storm systems can occur at any time of year but aren't that common. Best months: January, February, March, December Access description: by Car - From the airport take the southwestern motorway until you get to Hillsborough, and then drive along the coastal hills (get the map out for this so you know where to go) until you get to Titirangi. Then take the West Huia Rd (follow the signposting to Huia) until you get to Cornwallis (about 15km drive from Titirangi). Car definitely required as with all Auckland spots. You can also turn left before you exit to Cornwallis (Pine Av.), here you will find good parking. Specific rules: None Extra: No rules but the kite scene here is very unestablished. Very few people have kited here so please respect the locals. Fortunately in the conditions you will want to come here it's not the best beach bum weather. Nightlife: Nearest happening spot is Titirangi. Manukau and Auckland are each only 20km away. Accommodations: Shower, Toilet, Parking
