Scenic cliff soaring site, regularly used, with takeoff providing sufficient lift, suitable only for experienced pilots. Bottom landing options are extremely limited and only possible during low tide. Easy access by car. Always contact local pilots before flying for safety reasons and ensure you fly in safe conditions with good lift. Takeoff: Be absolutely certain of lift before launching. If in doubt, do not launch. The rigging area is a very short walk from the car park. Site Description: This is a cliff site with no bottom landing options. The Perranporth airfield ATZ begins just to the right of the launch area towards St Agnes village. Permission to fly within the ATZ has been negotiated, but all pilots must contact Perranporth ATC before flying. Avoid the NO FLY ZONE marked in red on the map and restrict your height accordingly. Landing: Bottom landing is not applicable due to the sea and lack of beach. For top landing, use the large area behind and to the west of the launch. Land well back and do not overshoot. Getting There: Approaching St. Agnes from the A30, turn left at the mini roundabout. Continue straight along the narrow winding road. The main road bears left where Chapel Porth Beach is signposted. Stay on the main road and turn left down a lane toward the sea. There is a height barrier that may be problematic for vans with roof loads. At the T junction, turn right into the parking area. Vehicle Access & Parking: There is an obvious parking area. Ensure you leave room for cars to enter and exit. Comments: All information is for guidance only. Pilots must make their own assessment of the site. For midweek flying, use the Military Freephone at 0800 51 55 44. For Red Arrows, Royal Flights, and TRAs, call 0500 35 48 02. Hazards: The site has no bottom landing and is shared with radio-controlled aeromodellers. The radio hut west of the launch is used by radio hams with a CAA license to fly a kite aerial up to 600 feet. Restricted Areas: Be aware of the Perranporth Airfield ATZ. This site is in a Military Low Flying Area. Clear your flying with the airfield before flying by calling 01872 55 22 66. Rules and Restrictions: If unfamiliar with the site, seek advice from local pilots before flying. The edge of the ATZ for Perranporth Airfield is 100 yards east of the launch. Clear flying with the airfield before flying and avoid the NO FLY ZONE.
