Altitude: 785 meters, Height Difference: 450-760 meters. This site is regularly used and offers nice soaring conditions with limited cross-country potential. Directions from Porto: Take the A1 and exit at Ponte de Lima, or take the IC1 and near Viana do Castelo, turn towards Ponte de Lima. In both cases, turn towards Lanheses, Meixedo, ascend Serra da Arga, pass through S. Lourenço da Montaria, and head to the top of the mountain. For east winds, there is an excellent grassy area reminiscent of the beautiful Azorean takeoffs. For winds with a southern component, ascend near the antennas and enter behind the chapel. You will find a clean quarry where you can lay out your wing without issues. Landing: Experienced pilots can land in S. Lourenço da Montaria, where there is a good field. Top landing is easy. If you can't reach the village, find an alternative landing spot as soon as possible. Trees are abundant. Less experienced pilots should land on a plateau in front of the takeoff, where there is a large walled chapel (it looks like a farm from above). Aim to land on the path. Retrievals are long and difficult, on forest roads (the Porto Wine Rally passes through here). To reach the chapel on the plateau, go to S. Lourenço da Montaria, pass behind the church, always turn left, enter a forest road, and follow it for about 4 km. When you see a path on the right, do not descend; continue straight. A few hundred meters ahead, turn right and you will eventually reach the chapel. Takeoff Directions: North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest.
