The paragliding site in Louny, Czech Republic, is highly popular and frequently used. It offers excellent thermal soaring conditions and is well-suited for cross-country (XC) flights. The site has a northwest (NW) and southeast (SE) orientation, making it versatile for different wind directions. The elevation is 450 meters above sea level (MSL) with a height of 140 meters above launch zone (ALZ). The wind azimuth ranges from 90° to 200°, accommodating various wind conditions. Both paragliders (PG) and hang gliders (HG) can use this site. The official flying status requires fees, and the maximum wind speed allowed is 8 m/s for paragliders and 10 m/s for hang gliders. Be cautious of potential turbulence behind the hill when the wind is from the east or northeast. Parking is available at "U Skleníku," and the start access involves a 15-minute hike uphill. The takeoff area is a meadow with no significant obstacles, accessible by car from Louny via Dobroměřice, then turning left towards Raná. In summer, the site is very active thermally. Despite its modest height, it should not be underestimated. A day membership with the Czech Aeroclub is required.
