Located next to Verdicio Beach, this flying site actually spans the beaches of Aguilera and Carniciega (also known as Barquera). It is situated near Cabo de Peñas, along the coastal road connecting Avilés with Luanco, Candás, Perlora, and other areas in the Gozón region. Takeoffs: The site offers two takeoff points with a north to northeast orientation. One takeoff is towards Carniciega Beach, which is more technical due to its small platform over a cliff. The other takeoff is at Aguilera Beach, which is more beginner-friendly, with a smooth and well-ventilated area. Landings: Top landing is possible at Aguilera Beach without issues. For Carniciega Beach, landing is also feasible, but caution is advised regarding the fields, especially during the grass-growing season, as landowners may protest. Beach landings are an alternative if necessary. Access: From Avilés, head towards Cabo Peñas. After passing through San Martín de Podes, follow the direction to Verdicio. Before reaching Verdicio, take a turn to the previous village and follow a track leading to the takeoff area. The maximum elevation difference is 50 meters. Carniciega Beach offers an easy slope, ideal for training flights, with the possibility of landing in the parking area below or on the beach itself. The takeoff area is clear, located below an alfalfa field, which should be respected to maintain good relations with the landowner. Aguilera Beach is more challenging. The takeoff area is a 'terrace' cleared by local pilots, covered with some forage to protect equipment. It has a bit more height and length, providing good lift and thermal conditions in warm weather, allowing pilots to soar above the takeoff point.
