Oftenåsen is located near the center of Steinkjer and is one of the most frequently used flying sites in the area. The local club has invested significant resources, both financially and through volunteer efforts, to create a drivable road up to the takeoff point at 330 meters above sea level. The takeoff site itself is a popular destination for hikers, offering a fantastic view over the city of Steinkjer. The wind direction for this site is N-NW. Oftenåsen is the best and most used site for altitude checks and is flyable throughout most of the summer season. It is best suited for ridge soaring, but good thermal conditions can also be experienced. The road to the takeoff is gated, but if you wish to fly, you can contact one of the club members to borrow a key.
