At an altitude of 2041 meters, this alternative launch site is frequently used and occasionally offers excellent cross-country (XC) flying opportunities. However, be cautious of the risk of Föhn winds when there is a southern wind. During the summer, you can reach the two launch sites near the kiosks at the summit of the Zillertal High Road (toll road) below Arbiskopf. Access is possible by car, public bus, or the flight school's shuttle service. From here, you have numerous opportunities to catch the Zillertal thermals. If you don't find any updrafts in front of the launch site or above the rounded, wooded ridge, you can try your luck at the Perlerbart thermal on your way to the landing site, which is not visible from the launch area. Successfully catching an updraft can lead to unforgettable flights along the Zillertal towards the Inntal or even into the Pinzgau region. However, navigating the Gerlos Pass can be challenging. Even if flying conditions are not ideal, the breathtaking view from the Zillertal High Road over the Zillertal Alps and the main Alpine ridge is a treat for both body and soul.
