Hauptstart PG at 1647 meters is an easy launch site, frequently used and suitable for good cross-country flights, including the Loser Triangle and Schlömmer Triangle. The launch area is located on the way to Bräuning Alm and features a grassy alpine meadow. The site is in the Altaussee region of Austria. The site record is 163.2 km. Note that the site is closed in winter due to the presence of chamois. Access to the launch site is from the Loser mountain restaurant, approximately a 20-minute walk. The launch area is a steep meadow, and the site is maintained by the Hang- and Paragliding Club Ausseerland. For more information, you can contact the club chairman, Kurt Freller, at 03622-71597. When planning your flight, pay attention to the windsock at Graskogel west of the launch site. West winds can create very turbulent conditions, making it difficult to reach the landing zone.
