At an altitude of 1337 meters with a height difference of 653 meters, this site is rarely used but offers some soaring and limited cross-country (XC) possibilities. Flights in the region of Austria have recorded distances up to 66.9 km. The site is known for its favorable weather conditions and wind protection, making it suitable for flights from March to November. During Christmas, light thermals can even allow for top landings. The main flight direction is east towards Emberger Alm and west towards Matrei, where an Alpine crossing is possible. Additionally, flights southwest along the Pustertal to Thurntaler and further into South Tyrol are feasible. Flights towards Mölltal in the northeast are also possible, offering various triangle flight options. When the southwest wind blows, Zettersfeld provides excellent soaring conditions, allowing pilots to soar along the ridge for hours in both summer and winter. However, pilots should be cautious of strong valley winds and turbulence at valley transitions, especially with the northern Föhn. The pronounced valley wind system can be dangerous in summer, particularly with northwest conditions, but offers fantastic soaring opportunities with southwest winds.
