Matalascañas Beach (Huelva) is located in the Natural Park of Doñana, Huelva, Spain. The dunes range from 20 to 100 meters in height and provide a unique flying experience with dynamic winds from the Atlantic Ocean, typically oriented from the southwest. This site is particularly popular for dune soaring and coastal cross-country flights. It is frequently used by pilots, and there are options to launch from below when the wind is strong. The main launch point is near Camping Matalascañas, beside Chiringuito Bananas. From here, you can take off from the shoreline hill, which is about 15 meters high. It is recommended to fly westward, as flying eastward could lead to conflicts with buildings and beachgoers. The region is known for its scenic flights over the shoreline, extending up to 15 kilometers west to Mazagon town, provided the wind is between 15 to 30 km/h from the southwest. The entire shoreline from Matalascañas to Mazagon is protected for wildlife, so it is crucial to respect the environment and avoid disturbing tourists or damaging the cliffs. Landing is straightforward, with easy access to the beach near the takeoff point, where you can conveniently park your car. However, it is important to note that paramotors are not allowed, and pilots should avoid flying over populated areas, especially during the summer months when the beach is crowded. Flying eastward is restricted as it enters the Doñana National Park, a protected area with a no-fly zone extending from the ground up to 6000 feet.
