Dora village, located in the Limassol region of Cyprus, offers a challenging paragliding site with an altitude of 699 meters. The launch area is known for being short and steep, making it suitable for experienced pilots. Top landing is possible but requires precision. The valley formed by the Diarizos river, although dry during the hottest months, provides a beautiful and expansive area for flying. Altitude gains can be significant, and cross-country flights are possible when conditions allow. The valley is home to Griffin vultures, adding to the scenic experience. Flying conditions are heavily influenced by the sea breeze, which is generally reliable except in winter. Light sea breezes enhance thermal soaring, while stronger breezes can break up thermals and increase drift, limiting flying to ridge soaring in turbulent air. Summer evenings often offer smooth and pleasant flights as the sea breeze diminishes. Landing options include fields on the river plain near the village of Kidasi, top landing to the left of the takeoff, or a small clear field with vineyards to the right of the takeoff. Pilots should be cautious of turbulence caused by upstream airflow and convection, especially when descending to lower altitudes. The launch site is northeast of Dora village, about 1300 feet above the river plain, facing southwest. It is ideal for thermal soaring in light winds but can become turbulent with stronger winds.
