At an altitude of 2473 meters, this paragliding site is rarely used but offers good cross-country flying potential. You will need to obtain a transit permit for flying near the Samedan airfield. The take-off point is located at 2480 meters and is easily accessible via a cable car. From Chantarella, take the cable car to Corviglia. The launch site is a moderately steep meadow below the station. The coordinates are 9.81800027, 46.50743833, and it takes about 5 minutes to reach on foot. Please note that this flying area borders the Engadin Airport. For more information, visit www.malojawind.ch. Corviglia Piz Nair Marguns is the largest contiguous area in the Engadin. It is also the home mountain of St. Moritz, where two Winter Olympics and several Alpine Ski World Championships have taken place. The area features 23 facilities in winter and 7 in summer, offering up to 3,057 meters above sea level for winter sports and hiking. Nearly 100 km of groomed slopes and 14 mountain restaurants are available. In summer, Corviglia transforms into a haven for bikers and hikers, with numerous trails of varying difficulty levels. Highlights include the Schellenursli Trail, the Heidi Trail, and the Clean Energy Tour. Corviglia and Piz Nair in St. Moritz are among the oldest flying areas in Switzerland. This site is suitable only for pilots who can independently assess complex conditions. Even on weekends, few pilots are present, so you will be on your own. Three important notes: 1. Be aware of potential turbulence at the summit. 2. Pay attention to the Malojawind, which can reach 7 Beaufort by 11:00 AM on clear summer days. A binocular is useful for observing the lake and surfers. The Kite-surf Club in Silvaplana offers an SMS service with wind and weather data updated every ten minutes. Send an SMS with "LSP WIND" to 9234 (20Rp./SMS) for wind direction, strength in knots, and air temperature (as of August 2005). This service may not work with foreign phones. 3. Avoid the route to Muottas Muragl. Do not overfly the Samedan airfield and maintain a mandatory 5 km distance.
