Located in the Overberg region of South Africa, this site is known for its soaring flights and is occasionally used for walk & fly, kiting, playing around, and training. The site features a large sand dune, historically significant as South Africa's first training site. While it offers good soaring flights, the small landing area and the performance of modern gliders make it less ideal for training compared to the past. The wind conditions are typically from the south-southwest to southeast. However, be cautious of very turbulent conditions in a southwest wind. Always check the wind at the top takeoff, as the venturi effect can be severe. To reach the site, take the N2 to Gordon’s Bay. At the base of Sir Lowry’s Pass, turn right towards Gordon’s Bay and follow the signs to Pringle Bay. Drive along the coast for approximately 20km. After the road climbs away from the coast, 5km beyond Pringle Bay, turn right to 'Stony Point' and take the second right onto a gravel road. After 1km, you will see the dune on your right-hand side. No permission is needed to fly here.
