Located at an altitude of 1089 meters, this paragliding site offers a pleasant soaring experience with some potential for cross-country flights. It is not frequently used, making it a serene spot for those who prefer less crowded locations. The takeoff area is a well-sized grassy field with a consistent slope, making it relatively easy to launch from. To access the takeoff point, park your car near the Gole takeoff parking area. From there, it's a 10-15 minute walk along a forest trail heading southeast from the mid-upper section of the Gole takeoff. The prevailing wind is a frontal breeze from the southwest. A windsock is available to help you gauge wind conditions. The takeoff difficulty is rated as medium to easy. However, it is important to note that the site should not be used when winds are coming from the east or north. To avoid conflicts with local landowners, please park your vehicle in a way that occupies the least amount of space possible. For directions, from Iseo, drive approximately 10 km to Sale Marasino, then through Sulzano via Croci to 'Santa Maria del Giogo' (Bar/Church/CAI Refuge). Follow the signs to 'Santa Maria del Giogo' (accessible by car). At coordinates 45°40'56.38" N / 10°07'56.95" O, take the last possible turn before Santa Maria to the north, and follow the private gravel road up three switchbacks to near its end (private property). Park there and follow the trail to the takeoff point. Local pilots are friendly and often willing to offer rides. If you speak some Italian, the trattoria in Portole is a great place to get information from the owner, who was the first Advance importer in Italy, and enjoy a fantastic meal. On weekends, the atmosphere is very welcoming, especially when locals from Milan are around. Camping at the landing site is possible with prior arrangement. The landing site by the lake is surrounded by buildings and can be turbulent. The landing site near the bar (trattoria) is spacious and easy to approach.
