Located at an altitude of approximately 990 meters with a height difference of around 960 meters, this site is frequently used and known for good thermal soaring, making cross-country flights possible. This site is considered one of Norway's best thermal spots. Access is via a toll road, and you will need to contact Hardanger Paragliderklubb to obtain a key. More details can be found [here](http://no.flightlog.org/fl.html?l=2&a=22&country_id=160&start_id=39). **Landing Zones** **Landing 1: Tveitane, Lofthus** This is the main landing area for flights from Byrkjeflot and Nosi. It features large flat areas near the river valley in Lofthus. Note that only the field marked on Statkart is the agreed landing area for HPGK. Pay attention to the location of the windsock. On typical days, wind conditions at Tveitane are very calm regardless of the wind at higher altitudes or over the fjord. The sea breeze does not affect this area, and the breeze will vary up or down the valley depending on the time of day and sunlight. This landing zone is suitable for all skill levels and is large enough for hang gliders. It is located 1.5 km from the flying site and sits at an altitude of 100 meters above sea level. **Landing 2: Helleland, Lofthus** This landing zone is on an open grassy area at Helleland. It is not very large, so experience with small landings is recommended. Be aware that the sea breeze can create an updraft along the slopes, requiring careful maneuvering until you are on the ground. If you approach on a long final, there is a risk of overshooting and ending up in the fruit trees. A windsock is usually placed at the southern end of the landing zone. If not, use the fjord and flags at Lofthus camping as good indicators. This landing zone is 3.2 km from the flying site and is at an altitude of 40 meters above sea level. **Access** From Lofthus center, drive towards Opedal school. At Opedal school, turn right towards Lofthus/Eidnes and follow the signs to Nosi. The road eventually turns into gravel and later a forest road, which is closed with a barrier. Parking is available at the barrier. The club has access to keys, so contact the board for information. The road is of variable quality, and a 4WD vehicle is necessary. From the top of the road, there is a 20-25 minute walk on a well-marked path. **Flying** The launch site is just above the tree line and relatively flat. A bit of wind is necessary for a safe takeoff. The main launch is at 960 meters above sea level and is covered with netting to prevent lines from getting caught in bushes and heather. Thermals are present along the entire mountainside, often forming a thermal ridge. Be cautious not to fly too close to the bowl to the left behind the launch, where two large waterfalls drop several hundred meters towards Lofthus. Also, be careful flying into the southwest-facing bowl to the right of the launch when there is a northerly wind component, as this can create a lee side and, combined with sometimes strong thermals, lead to turbulent air.
