The main take-off site at Fulseck is located at the end of the path under the lift cables. During winter, when the ski slopes are in use, use the alternative take-off site 200 meters north. This site is frequently used and offers good cross-country (XC) flying opportunities, typically ranging from 50-70 km, although longer distances are possible but rare. There are many alternative take-off options nearby. The Gastein Valley in Austria is known for its excellent thermal conditions, especially in spring. The valley's north-south orientation makes it susceptible to Foehn winds. The landing site in Dorfgastein is situated next to the lift parking lot and swimming pool. It is small and slightly uphill towards the north. The windsock is located on the roof of the hay barn. Always perform a right-hand circuit: - Position over the swimming pool - Base leg over the parking lot - Final turn before the high and low voltage power lines. Caution: High and low voltage power lines run close to the landing field. Always approach from the north. If there is a strong south wind, use the 'Clubwiese' landing site. Strong west/northwest winds can cause significant turbulence due to nearby houses and trees. Special considerations and webcam: The Arltörl area between Fulseck and Schuhflicker is a hunting zone and must be overflown with a minimum altitude of 300 meters above ground. There are flight restrictions in the nature reserve north of the ridge (Heukareck - Schuhflicker - Paarsee), the bird protection area in Rauris, and the Hohe Tauern National Park. The wooden ramp for hang gliders is visible upon exiting the mountain station. Experienced paraglider pilots have a small, east-facing take-off site on the ridge north of the mountain station. The mountain is better suited for west winds, allowing take-offs on the ski slope (only in summer) at the end of the lift lines northwest of the mountain station. In winter, with ski operations, a west-facing take-off is possible about 200 meters north of the mountain station. Early morning cross-country flights are better from Stubnerkogel, but significant distances can also be achieved from Fulseck later in the day. The common route is towards Bad Gastein along the west slopes. Paragliders have two landing options in Dorfgastein. Experienced pilots can land on a sloping field below the parking lot at the valley station, but must be cautious of houses, trees, and power lines. The main landing site for hang gliders is next to the main road towards Bad Hofgastein, about two kilometers from the valley station.
