Paragliding Mount Guy Ashburton Lakes

Mount Guy, standing at 1319 meters, offers a challenging yet rewarding hike with breathtaking views over the Lakes District. The 4.3 km track is classified as a tramping track and includes a flat walk around part of Lake Clearwater before a steep incline up a rocky face to the summit. This walk is very exposed and can be difficult on windy days, making it less suitable for young children. Some hikers have managed it with toddlers in backpacks, but it is quite tough. For paragliding enthusiasts, this spot is occasionally used for hike & fly activities and short scenic flights. However, it is not ideal for cross-country (XC) flights.
