The site features a large southeast-facing ridge, making it a notable takeoff point for cross-country (XC) flights in Andorra. However, pilots should be prepared for a committed flight with few landing spots. It is crucial to stay high and land high to avoid difficulties.
The Ransol valley often experiences constant sink and turbulence, and the Incles valley doesn't perform much better. Pilots have found it challenging to get past El Tarter on the north side. Above the ski slope, small thermals can be found during the day, with good restitution at night, but these are generally not sufficient for long-distance flights.
The recommended route involves heading southeast above Canillo after catching the Casamanya thermal. With a cloud base around 3500 meters, crossing the Andorra-Spain border is feasible, but pilots should be cautious of the north-south winds in the Pyrenees, which can be quite strong. If the winds are from the north, it is possible to head south after a thermal above Canillo towards Seu d'Urgell. However, be aware of valley winds if you choose this direction.
