The Top 20 Paragliding sites in Thailand:
Sik Hiu Khao Sadao
Khao Sadao, located in the Si Khiu District of Nakorn Ratchasima province, Thailand, is a highly recommended paragliding site. The take-off area is situated in the middle of a 5 km long, bowl-shaped ridge facing south, making it ideal for soaring and cross-country flights. The site is particularly favorable for southwest wind soaring or flatland cross-country flights towards the northeast.
The region is known for its beautiful scenery, with a steep cliff to the south and a flat area to the north that can be used as a top landing place. The east side of the launching area features a ridge about 1 km long, while the west side includes a temple, fields, and bushes. At the eastern end of the ridge, you'll find the Voyage Panorama Resort, a convenient accommodation option.
Pilots typically drive in from Bangkok on Saturday mornings, camp at the take-off area, and leave on Sunday evenings. Having your own transport or sharing a ride is essential. The site is about 200 km from Bangkok, and it takes approximately two and a half hours to get there by car. Follow Highway No. 1 from Bangkok Airport, then switch to Highway No. 2 towards Nakorn Ratchasima, and continue past the Lum Takong Dam until you reach km 201. Look for signs to Voyage Panorama Resort and Golf Club.
For those preferring public transport, you can take a train from Hua Lumpong (Bangkok Railway Station) to Ban Mai Somrong, which is about 7 km from the take-off area. However, there is no direct public transport to Khao Sadao, so you may need to hire a motorbike taxi or minibus. Alternatively, you can take a bus from the Northern Bus Terminal (Talad Mochit) to Sikhiu and then a taxi to Voyage Panorama Resort.
The best flying season is from March to July, with the optimal time being from the end of February to April. The site record is 110.4 km, with a maximum altitude of 220 m from the landing area. The take-off area is spacious enough for three pilots to launch simultaneously and is gradually steep, ensuring a safe take-off.
There are multiple landing options, including the field in front of the take-off area, the old golf course about 1 km to the east, or for experienced pilots, the Club House of Voyage Panorama Resort or the northern top landing area.
Accommodation is available at the Voyage Panorama Resort & Golf Club, with room rates at approximately Bht 1,500 per night. The resort offers comfortable flats, a swimming pool, and a friendly atmosphere. Camping is also available at the take-off area, with a small entrance fee required.
For food, the Voyage Panorama Resort has a coffee shop with reasonably priced meals. If you prefer camping, the S.E.T. staff can assist in purchasing fresh food for self-cooking, with BBQ stoves available.
Due to the dry surrounding area, conditions can sometimes be rough with strong thermals. If you land on private property, please compensate the farmers.

Koh Lhan forNational Sport Events only
Take off faces NNW and is from a flat paved area in front of the large statue of a monk. The site works well in mos wind directions between NE and NW. The local geography seems to funnel the wind up the hill and and it surprisingly easy to stay up in light winds. When the wind is strong then you will be lifted off the ground. If you are not used to flying in strong dynamic lift then wait until the wind eases off. Please be aware that there is a tandem operation here between October and February. Give way to tandems when it is safe to do so.
All pilots need to be Parapro 3 or above to fly unsupervised. All other pilots need to have an instructor. If you cant show your license then you can't fly. Site fees are 100 baht per day or 1000 per year payable on take off. A radio must be carried at all times with the site frequency being 144.425 Mhz. Site briefing must be carried out by one of the resident pilots before your first flight. Do not fly over the head of any of the statues as this will cause problems with our neighbours in the temple. Do not climb up the front of the highest pert of the mountain as this disturbs the monks there. If in doubt ask a local pilot. No tandem flying without the prior approval of Koh Larn Flying School. No acro......
When you arrive on the island talk to any of the motorbike taxi guys and tell them you want to go paragliding at Khao Yai. They all know where to take you. They will charge you around 50-100 baht to take you to take off.
