View spotTakeoff: The takeoff point is at 1052 meters above sea level, with GPS coordinates N2 21.962 E102 36.549. The launch area is quite steep, facing southeast, and is suitable for intermediate pilots or above. Landing: The landing area used to be at GPS coordinates N2 20.459 E102 38.311, at 70 meters above sea level. However, this may have changed, so it's advisable to verify current landing coordinates. Getting There: It takes about 2 hours to reach the launch site from Kuala Lumpur. Head south on expressway E2 towards Singapore. Turn left at the Tankak Exit onto Rd 23. The road to Gunung Ledang is on the left of Rd 23, about 2 to 3 kilometers past Tankak. If you reach Sagil, you've gone too far. The road is not well-marked, so look out for a dirt road. There is a national park toll halfway up; it was MYR 5 for locals and MYR 10 for foreigners the last time checked. Contact the Gunung Ledang National Park Management for a waiver. For more details, reach out to the KL paragliding forum at kl-paragliding@yahoogroups.com. Comments: The launch area is steep and faces southeast, making it suitable for intermediate pilots or above. The best winds come from the southeast, south, and southwest. There is about 2.5 kilometers of jungle to cover before reaching the landing area on a straight flight, so be cautious of strong winds and penetration. This site is not recommended for beginners. It can also be flown if the wind is light from the back when thermic. The site tends to cloud over often, making it unlaunchable, so early morning flights are best. The launch area is on the upside left of the road, about 80 meters in and 2 kilometers before reaching the top of Gunung Ledang. Always check weather forecasts as clouding is frequent. Weather Hazards: Exercise caution when the wind exceeds 15 km/h from the southeast, south, or southwest. The ridge will be soarable if the wind is from the south or southeast, making landing feasible if good height is reached and heading southwest along the ridge. Penetration over the jungle to reach the landing area may be difficult in these conditions. Beginners should avoid flying here. Landing is easily reached on a no-wind straight flight, usually with a good height of 200 to 300 meters or more. Flyable if the wind is from the back (north, northwest, northeast) if light, but watch for strong sink if it's stronger. Flight Regulation: The north side of Gunung Ledang is a military restricted no-fly zone. People to Contact: For queries, post on kl-paragliding@yahoogroups.com. Parking: At takeoff: Park on the side of the road or 100 meters up the road. Takeoff parking GPS: 2.366 N, 102.609 E. At landing: Near Gunung Ledang Resort. Landing parking GPS: 2.3408 N, 102.632 E. Tourism: Gunung Ledang Resort is located at the base, offering jungle walks to the peak. Tankak is an interesting town with vibrant fabric markets.

View spotAt an altitude of 1598 meters with a height difference of 365 meters, this site offers picturesque views over tea plantations. It appears to be a training site with no recorded flight logs. Takeoff: The launch area is a small ridge-top airstrip. Pilots can take off from the edge of this strip. Landing: The primary landing zone is a school football field below. The usual landing approach is from the North or North-Northeast, often encountering some tailwind. Landing on the tea plantation roads is possible with caution. Getting There: From Kuala Lumpur, head north towards Ipoh and follow the signs to Cameron Highlands. After passing Ringlet, turn right after approximately 4 kilometers and follow the signs to Boh Tea Plantation and Boh Tea House. From the tea house car park, you can see the ridge to the southeast over the valley. The small airstrip runs down this ridge, usually marked by a visible wind sock at the top. Comments: The cloud base in this area is typically not much higher than the launch site due to the elevation. However, there is often sufficient thermic activity to fly along the ridge and cross to the other side of the valley to explore additional hills and ridges. While it may not be worth the 3.5-hour trip from Kuala Lumpur solely for flying, combining sightseeing with paragliding can make the trip worthwhile. People to Contact: For more information, you can reach out to kl-Paragliding@yahoo.com or visit the KL paragliding forum. Tourism: The area is rich in attractions, including tea plantations, tea houses, a cool hillside environment, old colonial buildings, and a wealth of history, making it a worthwhile destination.
