La Milpa

No flight logs found. Take-off: Access by vehicle, on foot, or by horse. A 20-minute hike from El Portezuelo. Landing: The primary landing zone is at the heart of El Portezuelo Park at 1515 meters. There is also a larger open field at 1100 meters, which is a better option. Getting there: Take the old road to Ahuachapan from Juayua, along Ruta de Las Flores in Sonsonate. El Portezuelo is 7 kilometers from Juayua. The road is good, and any vehicle can reach the site. Comments: There are fewer flyable days compared to coastal sites, but it is worth checking out. The high mountain area presents more challenging winds and weather conditions than coastal sites. Weather hazards: The high mountain environment means winds and weather conditions differ significantly from valley areas. Flight regulation: Fly at your own risk. Balsamar

This takeoff is managed by “Los Zopilotos,” your local flying club. All Zopilotos members can fly without restrictions. The takeoff area is very easy and suitable for both paragliders and hang gliders. It offers a 180° launch possibility if improved. The access road leads directly to the launch site, making it convenient. The field is ideal for top landings and excellent for ridge soaring. With light winds, it’s a great spot for beginner flights from top to bottom. When winds exceed 12 km/h, it becomes excellent for ridge soaring. There is a house thermal to the left of the launch, making it ideal for tandem flights as well. The site offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. The dry season runs from November to May, with strong north winds occurring in 2-4 day periods, especially from November to February. However, due to its coastal location, south winds can sometimes creep in. The site is flyable year-round as the rainy season generally brings rain at night. San Vicente k 51

Takeoff: Coordinates: 13°40'0.60"N, 88°50'23.51"W Elevation: 754 meters Orientation: East/South East This takeoff is managed by “Los Zopilotos,” the local flying club. Members of “Los Zopilotos” can fly without restrictions. The takeoff area is very easy, wide, and grassy, making it ideal for both paragliders and hang gliders. There is a good access road that leads directly to the launch site. The valley is exposed to a lot of sunlight, creating strong thermals, especially around noon. This makes it a great spot for dynamic and thermic flights. With light winds, it is excellent for top-to-bottom student flights and is also ideal for tandem flights. The site offers spectacular views of the valley and “Volcan de San Vicente.” The dry season runs from November to May, with strong north winds occurring in 2-4 day periods, particularly from November to February. San Esteban The Pipe

Located in the Pital region of El Salvador, this paragliding site offers a takeoff elevation of 840 meters. The takeoff point is a public hill, easily accessible with a short hike of approximately 5 minutes from San Esteban Catarina. For landing, you can use any field close to the Panamerican Highway. There are plenty of open fields, especially during the dry season, making landing relatively straightforward. To get there, take the Panamerican Highway east towards San Vicente. At the crossroads to San Vicente, turn left towards San Esteban Catarina. Once you reach San Esteban, it's a brief hike to the takeoff point. Please note that flying here is at your own risk.
